Flathead County Update

Forty-eight consumers, family and friends had a wonderful time at the Karaoke and Comedy Night party May 1st.  We enjoyed having Mike Beers there to give us some laughs. Amanda Edwards – Youth Specialist

Amanda Edwards from Bigfork, MT has been hired as Summit’s Youth Specialist in the Flathead office. Amanda has been a wheelchair user since September 7th, 1997 as the result of a car accident. Flathead County Update

Fifty-two people were in attendance at a Valentine’s Party and pot-luck dinner on February 6th. We had wonderful live music by The Stringlers and an ice cream dessert bar donated by Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream and Summit ILC. 2010 Social Security Changes

There will be no cost of living increases for SSI and SSDI recipients for 2010. The 2010 amounts for Social Security are: SSI Individual - $674/month Couple - $1,011/month Substantial Gainful Activity Non-Blind - $1,000/month Blind - $1,640/month Trial Work Period Month $720/month The Montana Medicaid Medically Needy spend-down threshold will remain at $645 after income exclusions. The Flathead County peers participated in the Health Care Reform rally at Senator Baucus’ office on July 2nd.  There was a great turnout and everyone felt connected in a common goal.  Recent developments show their efforts were successful.
